Case Study: Four Hagie Cutters from Indiana to Texas

Transporting a 2013 Hagie 204 SP Cutter on a lowboy trailer

Here's what went down when we had to move four massive Hagie 204 SP Cutters across state lines. With the oversize nature of the equipment, plus the need for permits and multiple trucks, this was a tricky transport.

We transported for cutters from Remington, Indiana to Houston, Texas. Each machine was an oversize piece of equipment.. This wasn't your everyday haul and it needed to be done right.

  • Origin: Remington, Indiana

  • Destination: Houston, Texas

  • Total Miles: 1,099

What Made This Tough

The sheer size of these units created our first major hurdle. At 12 ft wide, we needed special permits for each state we'd cross, and loading required careful planning. The route was long, and then there was an unexpected closure on I-40 S. Plus, the customer needed them on time - no wiggle room there. So we quickly had to strategize how to get the cutters delivered safely and on time.

  • Length: 28'

  • Width: 12'

  • Height: 12.6'

  • Weight: 16,000 lbs

How We Handled It

We tackled this job with an RGN trailer - you can't beat that detachable neck for loads like these. Security was paramount, so we used heavy-duty chains, extra straps for good measure, and proper flagging front, back, and sides—everything by the book.

The planning phase was crucial. We secured all permits ahead of time and verified every measurement twice. When I-40 S threw us a curveball, we quickly switched to US-165 S. That detour only added 49 miles - much better than waiting for the interstate to clear.

How It All Worked Out

The whole operation wrapped up in about 27 hours from start to finish. The equipment arrived in pristine condition, just like it left Indiana. Our customer was satisfied with the smooth handling of the entire process, from communication to delivery.

What We Learned

  1. Always have a Plan B for your route

  2. Right equipment makes or breaks the job

  3. Take time to secure the load right

  4. Get those permits sorted early

Bottom Line

Moving four Hagie Cutters isn't your everyday haul, but with the right setup, good planning, and staying flexible when things change, we got it done right. Whether you're hauling ag equipment or any other oversized load, it's all about being prepared and rolling with whatever the road throws at you.
